Kick off your adventure with an early morning departure from Marrakech, crossing the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains.
Stop at the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a backdrop for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After wandering through its ancient alleys, head to Ouarzazate, Morocco’s “Hollywood.” You can visit the Atlas Film Studios if you’re curious.
From there, continue through Agdz and the stunning Draa Valley, lined with palm groves and Berber villages. Arrive in Zagora by evening — this desert town marks the start of your Sahara adventure. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional riad or kasbah.
After breakfast, visit Tamegroute, home to an ancient underground Koranic library and famous green pottery workshops.
Then, continue to M’hamid, the last village before the Sahara truly begins. From here, hop on a 4×4 and journey into the heart of the desert towards the wild, untouched Erg Chigaga dunes — some of the tallest and most remote dunes in Morocco.
By sunset, you’ll arrive at a desert camp where you can ride camels through the dunes. Enjoy a magical evening under the stars with a traditional Berber dinner and live music around the campfire.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise paint the desert in shades of gold and pink. After breakfast, hop back in the 4×4 and cross the vast, rocky Iriqui Lake (a dry salt flat) towards Foum Zguid.
Stop for lunch in Taznakht, a town famous for its handcrafted Berber rugs and carpets. Then, travel back through the beautiful Draa Valley, with its endless palm groves, before settling down for the night in Agdz — a peaceful oasis town.
After breakfast, head through the rugged, off-the-beaten-path landscapes of Nkob and Alnif, surrounded by acacia trees and desert plateaus.
Stop at Rissani, the last major town before the dunes, and explore its lively souk (market) — famous for selling dates, spices, and even traditional Berber medicine.
By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, right at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes — Morocco’s most iconic desert sea. Swap your vehicle for camels and trek into the dunes, where you’ll reach your luxury desert camp just in time for a stunning sunset.
Dinner, stargazing, and another night under the desert sky — unforgettable.
After a peaceful desert sunrise and breakfast, ride your camels back to Merzouga. From there, head to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and marble workshops.
Next stop: Todra Gorge, a spectacular canyon with towering 300-meter cliffs. It’s a paradise for climbers and hikers — you can walk along the riverbed, soaking in the dramatic scenery.
By evening, continue to Dades Valley, known for its surreal, wind-carved rock formations and “Monkey Fingers” mountains. Spend the night in a cozy riad or kasbah with views over the valley.
On the final day, start with breakfast and a drive through the Valley of Roses — if you’re visiting between April and May, you’ll see the fields in full bloom.
Pass through Skoura, an oasis filled with palm groves and ancient kasbahs, before stopping in Ouarzazate for lunch or a quick break.
Finally, journey back through the High Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech by evening — filled with unforgettable memories from the desert and beyond.
